Does anyone know if it still works properly in HM?

it was invented to help bad players complete HM - it works with variation for certain areas...yes it does still work - but...

...but nothing. It's a very viable and effective build. Epecially for beginners as it's also a very good way to familiarize yourself with team build synergy.
I'm not sure why there's such a negative connotation surrounding the sharing of effective builds, not everyone can come up with something this effective themselves.

there seems to be a backlash against good builds that work well together. it's kind of odd. although personally, i don't find the ss necro all that useful.

in theory it should work that way. but the hero ai doesn't really use those skills all that well. i prefer to put in an interrupting sf nuker instead.

I am currently using the build
I use the build i found here which is a 3 man necro team which i beleive has a slight variation and made Olias,Livia and Master of Wispers the 3 man team and i am also a necro/rit and i carry well of power as my elite to help keep the teams energy and life up. So far so good, it seems to roll pretty good through most places once we have a few minnions and bodies that i can use the well of power on.
So far this is the best team build i have come across, Then again i am a newb.. lol

Thr main damage source is not [[Spiteful Spirit|SS] but [[mark of pain|MoP] and [[barbs] due to the minions.

Yes it works and ignore the elitist comment about good for beginners... it's good for everyone.
Want a build to do a mission/vanquish with a quick to put together hero team... this is certainly one of them.
I used them a lot to get my Leg Vanq and Leg Guardian titles for sure... no need to get into PUGs.. just H/H and away.

Never liked how it takes advantage of the ritualist profession but uses a necro primary. No offense to sab but it's really messed up how a necro primary does a ritualist's job better on a hero.

I still use this build every now & again in HM, no problems at all. Filled up a couple of HM Hero's handbooks in EotN using this build actually.
I usually play as the SS tho, Master of Whispers is MM, Olias as N/Rit healer, and then I add another hero (usually between an ele nuker or paragon)

Thats because even after the update it got spawning power doesn't realy have any effect on Rt skills apart from binding rituals. The weapon spells a necro tends to use such as [[weapon of remedy] or [[splinter weapon] don't benefit from a longer lasting effect and barely increse in power past 12 in their attributes.
If spawning power had more of a relevance to other Rt skills then maybe the Rt heroes would work better. As is running N/Rt is much more useful with the minions around as no matter how much they spam they wont run out of energy.
Heroes tend to skill spam so this setup makes great use of that.

Right, I understand completely. I just dislike it how a N/Rt hero can do a better job than I can as a Rt/x. Yeah, I'm weird like that.

I use it, and I'm not bad. It is not only for bad people, but anyone that wants to use it.

It's good for everyone who doesn't want to micromanage. If you can flag and manually activate skills, Sab's is kinda weak. If you can't micromanage your heroes, I don't think there's anything that can beat Sab's.

I run this when im on my necro, but...i made some changes for the better
I play the role of the SS, because, like mentioned above, the AI is not so great at running SS.
then, i gave the 3rd necro death nova, so the jagged bomber doesnt hang in the back trying to cast death nova on all the minions while the rest of the team moves forward. (thats the main flaw with sabway as i see it; the jagged bomber needs to be constantly flagged to the front)
took off extinguish from the jagged bomber and gave him guardian, gave that 3rd necro martyr/plague sending combo for the ultimate condition removal, and threw in blood ritual and putrid bile to keep energy up and enemies dead.
it works ok for now, but im still lookin for something better
